Wow, summer is over and school has started back up, at least for this mom. My girls were so excited to go back to school this year and see all their friends and meet new friends. Along with school being back in that means that we are once again left with the choice to decide what foods our children eat and if they are really as healthy as the schools would like us to believe they are. More on this later today. bye for now.
Wow what a day today has been. I was woken up this morning with a phone call at 6:30am and let me tell you that if you wake me up that early someone had better be seriously sick or hurt or dead. It was my mothers husband telling me that he had brought her into the E.R last night. She was seriously ill and they kept her for tests. She now has to wait for symptoms to subside and inflamation to go down before they can perform surgery on her.
My mom and I have not always been close but in last few years we have grown very close and I am not ready to see that end. I am not a religous person but I have been praying and asking her angels to keep watch over her and see her through this safely. As I grow older I find that the only thing that anyone can truly count on is their family. Who else can you vent to, cry on a shoulder of, get angry with and tell off, laugh with, and who knows what else. I can honestly say that no matter how much goes on in your life do not take for granted your family. At any given day you could be all by your self with no family.
I live in Indiana and my mom is in New Hampshire, that is about 12-13 hours away. In today’s economy with only one income there is no way that we can afford for me to go out there. I really feel like I need to be there when she gets out of the hospital. She will need someone there to help out for the first few days or so. I had planned on going out to NH earlier in June for a few days and was not able to due to finances and my jeep not being in the greated shape. Now I am toying with the idea of going out anyway. I’ll figure out how to pull out of debt when I get back. Then again the realistic side of me says just do as mom wants and stay home and trust that she will have the help she needs from her friends in Altrusa and a couple of neighbors. So that is what I have resigned to do and wait and see if she will want my help afterwards.
Family is the most important thing to me. I have lost many members of my family throughout my life. Some of my family that I lost I wish I had spent more time with and kept in touch with better, even if it was just a short phone call to say hi thinking of you, or a letter. From now on I will do much better in keeping in touch with the remaining family that I have. Take time out of your day to write an email, make a phone call or just write a short not e to tell someone you are thinking of them. I know I will from now on.
My mom is doing well and will recover quickly from her surgery, but it made me stop and think when this happened today. Life is to short don’t let time slip by you.

I have been reading some interesting stories online pertaining to the state of our economy, the current job market and the avenues many people are taking to gain employment. People are turning to many different alternative income streams. Professionals of all walks of life that have decided against the military are now rethinking that idea and talking to recruiters and joining the military to save their houses, cars, and be able to provide financial support for their family. Many others have chosen to take on two or three jobs killing themselves physically to help make payments for their homes and cars. More and more people are even researching the internet to see what kind of at home business opportunities are out there that will allow them to work at home and make extra money to help in this economically trying time that we are in. There are even folks out there that are doing both working a job and an online opportunity that will allow them to make the extra money at home and earn a paycheck.
I personally am doing both working a job and earning money from home with an online marketing business that is doing very well. It affords me to make the payments that I need to and have a little extra money to help get me out of debt a little quicker without killing myself physically by holding down two or three part time jobs to do the same thing. I call that working smarter not harder. I am going to check with a local recruiter to speak with them to see if the field that work in on the civilian sector, has positions that need to be filled in the military. I was military in the 90′s and now that the economy has taken a rollercoaster ride I need to be able to support my family and give them the peace of mind that we will not loose everything and wind up out on the street homeless. I’m not saying that being my own boss and working to replace my income from my job is not working, but being realistic I know that it will take some time to build it up to that point especially when I have no choice but to work a job to keep our home and car.

Well, summer is upon us and before we know it fall and winter will be here soon. While everyone is gearing up to take family vacations, go out to the parks, beaches, woods for hiking and camping I would like everyone to keep in mind safety. Safety for you nand your family. Buckle up while traveling, life preservers out on the water, remember that while using fireworks to set them off a safe distance away from others. We all love to go out and enjoy the nice warm weather and activities that come with it, so lets remember to do so with caution for safety.

I know I was just a few short months ago. I chose to leave the work force as most people know it and started out on a new path to financial freedom. The path I chose, was to become an entrepreneur and have my own business, allowed me to decide my own hours and the kind of work I do. I make the money and keep the money. It does not go to my boss, well ok maybe it does I am my boss.

You know when we set out on our paths as adults we tend to forget the little things in life that make it so simple. Have you ever watched a child play, I mean closely watched, not in a protective manner but listened tot he imagination, watched their movements and actions? I chose to do that just that this weekend with my youngest daughter and learned something about her I never knew. She loves to be alone and hates to be alone at the same time. What I mean is she absolutely love the idea that she is alone when her big sis is gone to a friends house since she is able to play and think and do what she wants to. She has the most amazing imagination when she is allowed to use it, and big si doesn’t tell her what to say or play. Her personality is totaly different when her sister is nowhere around her. She is a very independent child that can think and play for hours on end without anyone else and have fun. What a wonderful child, thoughtful, confident, spunky, and very caring. So the next time you are given the opportunity to just sit back and observe one of your children may I suggest you do just that, you will be surprised at what you learn about him or her that you never knew.

On this day I would like to take a few moments and reflect on the Soldiers, Airmen, Marines, and Seamen that protect our borders, our freedoms, our rights, and especially those who left behind their families when they died fighting for this country. To all the Military members past and present, Thank You for your help protecting our country. From one Veteran of the Air Force to every single military member past and present it is an honour to have served with you.
